The Information Technology Service Centre (ITSC) embarked on a job training program for a select number of UNRWA Gaza Training Centre (GTC) graduates thanks to a joint effort supporting the integration of Palestine refugees into the IT labor market by IMTD and Gaza Field Office (GFO). The program will equip young IT graduates with critical skills in their respective majors and other in-demand sectors of the labor market like communications and soft skills.
“IMTD and GTC have worked closely together to provide our students with hands-on job training with young professionals at the ITSC. Through this continued cooperation, our graduates will indulge in real-life work environments and learn to stay current with technology trends”
In addition to technical guidance, the program trains the graduates in business requirements analysis and introduces them to project management techniques, namely, Azure DevOps and the Agile methodology. The training sessions are run by ITSC Microsoft-certified professionals, the most recent of which introduced the graduates to Power Platform—a suite of integrated Microsoft tools used in business intelligence, app development, and app connectivity.
“Being a trainee in such a collaborative atmosphere means non-stop learning! Everyone is literally sharing his expertise with you. It was always an ambition of mine to get involved with teams like ITSC’s”
“The experience has been excellent so far. Beside the technical side, I’m learning to work within a team and in compliance with a specific set of rules and procedures. It is a new world to me! I hope to land a job here as an ASP.NET developer.”
"I feel like I am fully immersed in the kind of professional environment that naturally encourages you to learn and be more productive. One of my favorite aspects is learning how to work within a team to manage technical projects. That is exactly the kind of practical knowledge I was hoping to gain.”
The IT labor market is a competitive place that is constantly changing, and the digital generation of Palestine refugees is known for being well-educated, technologically savvy, and skillful. It is from this understanding that IMTD draws deeply on this generation’s potential. To this end, the ITSC aspires to provide job training opportunities to a wider range of beneficiaries in the future, including university graduates, and is exploring ways to provide training opportunities to professionals as well. It is worth mentioning that UNRWA IT Service Centre has recruited most of the GTC trainees to work with them as ASP.NET Developers.
