Our esteemed speakers from UNRWA and UNICC shed light on various aspects of InfoSec, covering the basics, its surging demand, and the best practices for building your skills and knowledge. Moreover, inspiring success stories from Gaza were presented, where individuals have made their mark in the world of InfoSec.

Speakers
Lukasz Cyra is the Head of the Information Security Office of UNRWA. He served for seven years in the UN System, being responsible for cybersecurity in IIMM in Geneva and as a Deputy Head of the Information Security and Risk Management Unit in the UN Secretariat in New York. He also worked in security and risk management positions in the European Commission and private sector in several countries. He worked on large software deployment projects for peacekeeping, software development projects for the European Commission as well as software projects for the British nuclear sector. He holds a PhD degree in cybersecurity and 20 professional certificates.
Ahmed El-Farra is a Senior Information Security Expert at UNRWA. He is certified with Azure security technologies and has the Fortinet Network Security Expert certification. He is the project manager for implementing Secure Access Service Edge SASE in UNRWA agency-wide. He recently landed an international position with UNRWA in Information Security.
Alaa Ahmed is a DevSecOps officer at UNICC, with a passion for enhancing software development practices through a strong focus on security, automation, and collaboration. Alaa’s professional history spans over 15 years, during which he has amassed a wealth of expertise in areas such as system administration, cybersecurity, DevOps, and cloud technologies. Notably, Alaa boasts certifications as a Linux administrator, a certified Network Security professional, and a certified Azure security engineer.
Etaf Abu Hadda is a fresh graduate who joined UNRWA as an Application Security intern. She has contributed to a number of great projects with the Cybersecurity team. Toward the end of her internship, she landed a job as a DevSecOps Engineer with UNICC. She is also a part-time lecturer at the University College of Applied Sciences, and she loves to help and inspire her current students to pave their way in the Cybersecurity field.
The event drew about 130 developers and ICT professionals. By the end of the session, they engaged with the presenters and provided encouraging feedback. A number of academic staff members attended the session out of interest in encouraging their students to master these innovative, cutting-edge, and in-demand topics.
